We have an uncle trying to use squatters rights to claim soul ownership of dead grandmothers land.We were told that all we had to stop him was file a claim on the property ourself. Do we have to go to the county where the land is and deal with an attorney there or can we hire on in the county where we live?

Only God or the devil can claim soul ownership. As for the land ownership, you must file the action where the property is located, that is the jurisdiction.
