What is the name of your state? Ca

Sorry if I am posting in the wrong forum, but I could not find a forum more suitable. I just had a quick question. Sr22's are required for 3 years. I was wondering if that is 3 years from the end of DUI suspension or 3 years from inception of insurance policy?

Secondly, does anyone know any sites where I can find insurance quotes for multiple agencies?

Thank you

A: Ask the bureaucrats who told you to get the SR22.

Exactly. Its 3 years from the date that the judge requires it, which usually INCLUDES the dates of the suspension. Therefore, even though your license is suspended, you are required to maintain insurance, either a bond or a policy.

From when the judge requires it? I believe DMV asks for proof of Sr-22 applying again for a license? I was never required to carry insurance without a license. I was told by another on reputable source on this forum, "why do you need insurance when you dont drive?"

Now I'm confused.

Thank you though.

A California Insurance Proof Certificate filing ( an SR22) is required in cases of unsatisfied judgments, major convictions, license suspensions and failure to have liability coverage at the time of an accident. Your insurance company files this form with the DMV. The filing requirement period can be up to three years.

Something that you did may require an SR22. That same thing may cause a license suspension. Just because your license is suspended doesn't mean that you don't have to satisfy the requirements of the SR22.
