SSI for Disabled parent and disabled child

Hi guys! I am curious—can a parent who recieves SSI ( because they don’t have enough work credits for SSDI) and their disabled child, under the age of 18 both recieve SSI? Do you know anyone who is in this situation—- where two disabled people, a parent and child both recieve SSI and not SSDI and auxiliary child benefits?

Yes it is definitely possible for a parent and a child in the same household to be on SSI. Sometimes there is a spouse/2nd parent in the house as well. Also not unusual to have multiple children, siblings, in a household/family to both/all/some be on SSI.
