I requested and received a free credit report from one of the big three credit service agencies. The 4 page report had MY information on pages 1 & 2 and another persons information on pages 3 & 4. The other persons information included: NAME, SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, LIST OF CURRENT ACCOUNTS with ACCOUNT NUMBERS, DOLLAR AMOUNTS and CREDIT STATUS.

Is this just an administrative blunder or is it against the law?

thanks,

Ken B

My response:

That person is using your Social Security Number and is stealing your identity; probably in an effort to escape whatever problems that person has. However, in the meantime, your financial life is in grave danger - - which can be ruined by this other person's use of your number.

In the United States, it's one person, one number. That's it.

Contact ALL of the credit agencies and place them on Notice of your discovery and to place a notation in your records, and have them start an investigation to stop the other person.

ssn give away

Thanks for the reply, but I probably didn't send enough information on round 1. I was expecting a 4 page report on ME. Instead I received 2 pages on me and 2 pages on the other guy. Since the 4 digit page numbers at the bottom of the printout are not sequencially numbered, it appears that the credit agency send me two pages of another guys report and sent him two pages of MY report.

Is this against the law?

My response:

No. It's a clarical mistake. However, you should let them know so it can be avoided in the future. When a company hires $5.50 employees, this is what a company gets.

IAAL, I got a raise effective Jan 1 2001, so I am now making $5.65 an hour and not the $5.50 that your post stated. Just thought I'd let you know.
