nevada state law requires a privilege tax for registering your car base on some table using value and year of your car. my question is this, it states NRS 371.030 Imposition of basic privilege tax. A tax is hereby imposed for the privilege of operating any vehicle upon the public highways of this state. Such tax shall be in lieu of all taxes based on value and levied for state or local purpose on such vehicles.

does the second sentence mean that when you buy a car you dont have to pay sales tax to county,city or state? or am i misinterputing this law?
