What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Louisiana. Police made statement to my minor child 15. About my mental health. As if he was a psychatrist. This same officer has made the same statement to me. Is it legal for him to diagnos me to my child. I have no mental illness. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

He is legally free to express an opinion. However, it might well be unprofessional of him to do so.

You can make a complaint to the department. Or, if you feel you have suffered some manner of grievous harm, you can consult an attorney to see if you have grounds for a lawsuit. I doubt you do, but if you can find an attorney who will try without you having to pay up front, maybe it will be worth it.

Of course, you had best hope that you do NOT have some form of mental illness.
