Recently I sold a 60 lb. pail of honey to a customer that put the container in the trunk of his car and unfortunately the container somehow tipped over in the trunk sometime after he left our shop. My question is - am I liable for the damages to his car? I have already given him a new bucket of honey to replace the one that spilled, but just how far does my liability go? He claims that the damages extend to the inside of the car and the total could reach more than $1000.00. Before this explodes into a problem I'd appreciate knowing what my responsibilities are.
