What is the name of your state? CALIFORNIA!
Hypothetical situation: I am low income, unemployed, never married but have a child and child support order in place which reflects said low income. I invest and hold shares in a private start-up company. Said company either IPOs or is bought out. My original investment (by some rare stroke of good luck) returns high 2-figures or low 3-figures. I sell my shares and am taxed on said stock sale.
Question: Will CSS use my substantial but one-time gain (made known via my tax returns) to modify a higher child support order, despite remaining sporadically employed and low-income? If so, how long before I can request a reversal back to original order?
Not sure if this is a Finance Law or Child Support question, so I'll post in both.
