Stock Trading Techniques

Recently read a book just published this year. In that book contained several concepts and techniques related to stock trading. The author mentions them using special names like "X1" and "AA3", etc.
None of the special names appear to be copyrighted or trademarked.
Do they AUTOMATICALLY become copyrighted by virtue of being described in the book which I believe becomes copyrighted automatically ???

If the book is copyrighted, that means everything inside is copyrighted too.
