Hello, I live in Arlington, Virginia. A few months ago, I had a problem in my apartment with some outside window-maintenance contractors. A window in my apartment was broken, so I called my management office to get it fixed. They have an outside contractor who does window work for the apartments so they called them to have the windows fixed. The contractors came into my apartment and fixed my window and, apparently, one of the window maintenance men stole my PlayStation 2 and pawned it. To make a VERY long story short, the PlayStation was eventually tracked down at this pawn shop (though there were some problems with it and the controller attached to it) and the guy who stole it was eventually caught, fired from his job and even did a couple days in jail after I pressed charges. What I was upset at was not really the window company which employed the guy who stole my Playstation, but the apartment complex I lived in, because I was never even notified beforehand that anyone would be in my apartment that day to fix the windows. Was this negliegence on their part to fail to notify me that the window contractors would be there so that I could have time to hide my valuables?? Isn't this something my tenant would be required to do?? This was something I was going to let go, but because of some recent unfair treatment on their part (even aside to the rent increase I mention in the previous post) I am looking into the possibility of suing them. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!!!
