My work truck was broke into over night while parked at the shop. All of my tools were stolen. These tools were my personal property. My employer says they will not pay to replace these tools. I was never informed when I was hired, in writing or verbally that this was company policy. My question is do I have a legal right to file with their insurance company to replace my tools? I'm not sure if they filed a claim on the break-in, but if they did and they claimed my tools in the claim are they required to repay me for the tools? Last question is, if they decide to fire me if I push for them to replace my tools, do I have the right to sue them for wrongful dismissal?
