During December, my self, my mother, and my brother went on vacation for about 3 weeks. Since we own a cat, we had my brother's "friend" come by the house to feed the cat, etc. while we were away.

Well, when we came back, we found that our walls and floors were covered in spray paint. The computer monitor also had spray paint on it. We also found that my computer, my guitar, my guitar amp, and some of my dvds were missing. The graffiti had a date written (1/16). We arrived home on 1/17. We found a note on our kitchen table by our "housesitter" (Barry) that was written on 1/15 saying that it would be the last day he'd stop by. We called the police and had it reported.

About two weeks later, another one of my brother's friends said that Barry had given him a Fender guitar amp to hold on to. He also said Barry had told him he'd give him a Fender guitar to hold onto later (I had a Fender brand guitar and Fender brand amp stolen). We looked at the amp and it was the same model as my stolen one. My brother and I confronted Barry about it and he gave us a bogus story and assured us that the amp wasn't the same as the stolen one. I checked the serial number of the amp with the box of the stolen amp... they matched! I told the investigator about all of this, but they have done nothing but file it. I even gave him Barry's phone number, but he hasn't even called him.

What should I do to get reimbersed for the rest of my stolen goods (about $1300 worth)?
