I'm in Oklahoma. In January, I made two check payments over the phone. Both of them were post dated. After receiving additional paperwork in the mail from the company, I decided to stop payment on both checks. The bank charged me $23 per check and assured me the checks wouldn't be honored. When the first check was submitted to the bank, it was returned NSF. The company resubmitted the check and the bank honored it. I found this out after numerous other checks bounced. I have contacted many different employees of the bank, but as of today, they are refusing to refund the money. They didn't honor the second check, although it was submitted exactly the same as the first check. They have refunded the NSF charges, but they refuse to send letters of apology to the businesses. They have said that it's my fault that I didn't remind the bank not to honor the check, so there's nothing they can do to help me. Is this something that can be resolved in small claims court or am I out of luck?
