I had a mechanic work on my car. I called him when instructed and he said my car was ready to go. I picked up my car and within 20 minutes the car stopped running. I called the mechanic and he came and towed my car back to his shop. After about 15 minutes of work he once again stated that my car was ready to go. I drove about 3 miles down the road and the car quit running again. I stayed with the car for about 30 minutes and the car started up and I was able to get home before it stopped again. I called the mechanic and explained to him what had happened again. I asked him to assist me because I didn't feel that the problem(s) were corrected. He stated that he didn't have any time to work on my vehicle until next week. It was Thursday evening when the occurred. I was very upset at his lack of interest in my problem. I had just paid him by check, $137.00, and I didn't feel that I had been treated properly. I called my bank and placed a stop payment on the check I issued to him.
He called me today and informed me that he was going to take me to court and that I had committed a felony offense. I live in the state of South Carolina and I would like some advice on what my legal alternatives are. I thank you in advance for any assistance you may offer.
