A friend of mine was given a ticket on stop sign violation in California. She happens to have a Michigan license at that time. Soon after the incident, her Michigan license expired.

She is now settled in California and is applying for a license in California. Does she still have to pay for the ticket despite the fact that the ticket was given on a Michigan license that has expired?

Please guide us.

Thanks

Kind Regards

Yes, she will have to pay the citation. If she fails to take care of the citation, a hold will be placed on her license and she could find her privilege to drive in CA suspended. if that happens, any vehicle she operates could be subject to impound for thirty days.

She should take care of her citation and then apply for a valid CA license. if she is driving on an expired Michigan license and has been in CA for over ten days, she is currently driving without a license in CA and is technically committing a misdemeanor criminal offense.
