What is the name of your state? PA

My daughter just told me that the manager of the Donut chain store that you have all heard of, has been attempting to molest her best friend (15) and 2 other 15 yr. old girls that work there. The store is new in my area and the owners/managers are foreign and not from our area, so nobody really knows much about them. The manager, age 24 pinned the one girl against the wall and tried to go up her shirt. He gave my daughters friend a ride home, and took her for a long drive, pulled over, got on top of her, forced his way up her shirt.. attempted to go down her pants. Im not sure if he was succesful. The girl was saying "no" the whole time and asking to please be taken home. She was terrified. The girls all said that 2 boys who used to work there got fired for "no reason", but the girls suspect it is because they were talking with these boys, and the manager didnt like it. Apparently he wants to only work with girls. Oh, the girl he got the fartherst with was given a hefty raise and was scheduled more hours than is legal for a 15 yr. old girl.

Im finding this out today because these girls FINALLY told somebody. They told the policeman/security officer at their school. The officer had them all write down exactly what happened, how far.. details etc. He implied that the one girl that he did the most with would need to press charges. Is this true? Should her parents hire an attorney, or should she leave it in the policemans hands??? Will this predator be off the streets even if the girl doesnt have the courage to press charges???

Thanks

To pursue the case, the victim will need to cooperate with the prosecution. And a private attorney can certainly sue the shop owner, but only the DA can press charges. You can keep in touch with the school officer and the police department and see what the status of the investigation/case is, but other than that, prosecution is at the sole discretion of the DA.

Thank you for the advice. My understanding is that the officer called this particular stores' superiors and alerted them to the problem. Other than that, I don't know that the DA or anybody has decided to press charges. I dont think the victims or the family is interested in suing anybody. It is just me that seems to be the most furious right now.

You and your daughter should contact the police department with jurisdiction over where this store is located. If the officer in the school isn't from that department, his only involvement will be to contact the appropriate jurisdiction.

The police officer from the school is in the same jurisdiction. I did find out more about this, and it had gone further than I thought. This manager would send the girls into the freezer and then go behind them and block their exit, groping them and not just outside their clothes. The boys who worked at the donut place were given way limited hours, and some fired. The girls were overworked.

Their are 3 victims that we know of. The officer advised the girls not to quit their jobs, yet the offender is still there. They were told that it could take a year to go to court. He hasnt been arrested and the girls are afraid to go to work and are calling in sick.

The one family is consulting with an attorney over "lost wages", which would have to amount to very little. Maybe he can direct them further.

I will let you all know the progress of this. Any more advice/thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

BTW, not that it is relevant to my questions, but it is not my daughter that this happened to. It is her best friends. A set of twins and another good friend. My daughter never did apply for the job thank God. I would HOPE that she would have alerted me way sooner, but I guess that is every moms hope.

Update. The offending manager was fired. He is "moving back to New Jersey". The girls are back working at the donut store and not worried anymore.

Hopefully he doesnt repeat his behaviour in New Jersey. I'd be interested in knowing if he has a history of this behaviour. Hopefully this is the end of it.
