You will be notified of a lawsuit when the civil sheriff comes to serve you.

La. ....This company that bought my debt dosen't have to contact me ;that they now own this debt; and make their demands or a settlement offer?

The 'new' collection agency/junk debt buyer doesn't need to notify you nor do they need your permission for anything. Take my word for it, one way or the other you WILL be contacted, and a lawsuit COULD be their first contact. More than likely you'll get some letter or phone calls first though.
