What is the name of your state?Georgia I have a student loan over 20 years old it has been removed from my credit years ago. I got a letter today saying they were going to put it back on my credit and make a judgement. Can they do that?

There is no statute of limitations for federal student loans. If they get a judgment, the judgment will go on your credit report for a long time.

I suggest sending a letter asking for proper validation. With this being over 20 years old, I doubt they will have the documentation to back it up. If they do, make a settlement offer.

BTW, send everything certified mail return receipt and state to only contact you by mail.

Negative information can only stay on your reports for 7 years. Once it comes off it can NOT be LEGALLY put back on, so that threat is pure crap. They can, however, sue you and the judgment would go on your reports.
