Texas: My husband and I were married for almost five years. He obtained student loans during that course to go to college. I never signed any agreements to be responsible for them. We are now getting divorced and he is threatening to stick me with half his student loans. Is this possible?

right type of loans?

were they loans that you both signed from the bank? or was it a government student loan?

it is unlikely that you would be held responsible for his student loan even if he did take you to court. there is no real property - the education only helps him.

of course, after the court cases i have heard today - who knows. did you read about the breast implants? this couple were getting divorced and she had signed a prenup stating that all property would go to him. he wants his implants and it sounded like he would possibly get them. OH LORD!!!!
