What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? TN

During a parent teacher conference, in front of all of the other parents, my child's teacher revealed to the entire class that my child was the worst performing student in the entire class (regarding a particular issue). This is not the only issue that we have had with the teacher or her conduct. There has been inconsistency with regards to her grading practices compared to the other teachers and schools around as well as disrespectful communication to my wife and I through different notes that we have sent her.

We have requested a meeting with her and the Asst. Principal but I was curious if she can discuss the performance or shortcomings of my children in front of the entire class's parents.

Thanks

What kind of parent-teacher conference includes other parents in the room? Are you sure it wasn't an open house or curriculum night? Did you ask a question about your son or his grades in front of all the other parents?

While a teacher should not discuss individual student performance in front of, or with, other parents, I think there are some details missing that may affect the answer to your question.
