What is the name of your state? SC
I am a teacher in SC. This is the 2nd time that my vehicle has been vandalized while parked at work. The first time students threw eggs at several cars in the parking lot. The principal offered to pay for a car wash. After two washings, all the egg came off so I was fine. Faculty were told to park inside the fence from that point forward so I did. Well, less than a month later several students were spotted throwing rocks in the parking lot. I have nicks on my windshield and hood. There is a very small dent in the hood. I've been told by the principal that the school is not responsible and there is a sign posted stating that. However, on a daily basis there are 15-20 students cutting class at one time. Everytime I witness kids cutting, I call the office for monitors. Other teachers have had cleaning solutions thrown on their cars that students stole from the janitor's closet. I feel that if the kids were monitored that this vandalism would not have occurred. I therefore hold the school and district accountable because teachers have been reporting a high rate of students cutting class since August and it's now December. The day after my car was hit with rocks there were over 10 students cutting class the next morning. I had to send for a monitor twice. The damage is not major but someone needs to get the point across to administration that the students need to be monitored at all times and teachers want to feel comfortable parking at work.

If you are asking (since you didn't ask a question) if the school is responsible, the answer is no. You are not required to even park your vehicle on the school property. You are allowed to lpark your vehicle elsewhere, and get a ride, take the bus, take a cab, etc to your place of employment.

The students who threw the rocks and/or their parents are the responsible parties. The school cannot control the actions of the students. They are making a reasonable effort and there are notices of "park at your own risk". That's all that is required.
