i have some of my things in one of my roomates room, and he hasnt been back to the house to my knowledge in about a month. i really want my things back, they are worth about 300 dollars. i have the key to his room, but i am worried that if i go into his room that he will say i stole something or broke something in his room. I am kinda the house manager and that is why i have the keys. the reason he has not returned is that he is bringing some legal matters againest a organization that all of the roomates belong too. his lease is up in about a week, but i want my stuff now, i am afraid i will never get it back unless i go in there and get it. what to do????

1. Pray he doesn't abscond with your stuff & wait.

2. Research your state law on reclaiming possessions from a housemate with a private locking room.

3. Give him 24 hours "notice" by taping it to his door, then enter and take your stuff. Have a friend witness your actions in his room (video tape it?) and make sure the door is securely locked when you finish.
