Stupid mistake

Guest
I have made a stupid mistake and now I need to know just how much I've srewwed up. I went to a company function in a different city in my state (TX). I took 2 joints with me to smoke after work in my hotel room. Someone found out that I was holding and called our Loss Prevention Dept. My supervisercalled me into her office and said that I either turned over any thing I was holding or they would call the poloice to search my Van. I turned over what was left. I was then fired because I put the occupants of the van at risk because I was Holding 2 joints.I rented the van to help transport the other employees to our meetings, I would then submit the Rental charge for reimbursement. They said that since the Van would be considered Company property I was in violation of policy. Do I have any options here? No criminal charges have been brought against me but I'm afraid to fight the termination in case they try to report me for the drug use.
Help me please.

My response:

You should be feeling very fortunate. You did place the company a great risk; not only for the drugs, but also the risk you placed their employees, and the public at large if you had caused an accident.

Put your tail between your legs, and get on with your life. At least, you're able to, and not behind bars right now - - staring at huge legal bills.
