What is the name of your state?I am in California, but the property in question is in New York.
I signed an agreement to sublease an apartment for two months. The owner/renter (not sure) signed the agreement also. I mailed her $2000.00 for the rent beforehand. Now (the lease period has not yet started) she has renigged on the agreement. I have been asking her to send the money back for several days now, but she is evading me. She says she will send it, but each time she changes what she says, first she will pay me when i get there. I tell her i am not coming anymore, so then she says she will mail it to me. Then she says she will wire me half and then give me the other half in person. This goes on an on, finally I demand that she mail it immediatley, or i will contact authorities, and she says i have no case, because she is not denying me the money, she just needs "a little time".
Please help me! I don't know what my options are or what actions to take!
