I moved into an apartment with friends January 7th. We had previously discussed pro-rating for when I moved into the apartment rather than paying for the entire month of January. He is now requesting that I give him more money and it's been two weeks since I gave him the last month's rent that he did NOT prorate.

He is now saying there is no agreement that he would prorate the apartment. He is asking for another month's rent. And if that's not enough he now tells me that he isn't even allowed to sublet his apartment.

He's threatening court. He was a friend so I offered $100 for the last week of the month (which I already paid) to relax the situation, but that made things worse. I have e-mail communication from him about prorating and the move-in date. Does he have any legal ground to stand on if he takes this to court?
