What is the name of your state? CA

I am being sued and the plaintiff's lawyer issued
a civil subpoena to appear in person and produce
documents. I have had 1 court date already and
the judge asked me to mail a document to him and
set another court date. Just yesterday I got the
subpoena. The court is 450 miles away. The subpoena has not been issued or signed by the court clerk, just by the attorney. The first time,
I showed up at the court using 'courtcall' a court by phone service. Could I just send the required
documents to the lawyer and judge and 'show up'
by courtcall again? Or would this be contempt?
I know the lawyer is doing this to make me not
show up and give up the case.

Thanks, if you can give help on this one.
