What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? CA
My American Express keeps lowering my credit limit. I paid off my credit card to zero and then Amex lowered the limit from 5000 to 3000.
Then a few days ago I made a $1100 bulk business purchase ( I had $3000 limit) then the next day I get a call from Amex that they lowered my limit again to $1300. I thought they were just calling to verify the purchase.
Can I sue Amex for acting in a retaliatory fashion against me( if I prove so)?
It is one thing for a credit card company to lower your limit in a reasonable manner, but it is another thing for them to retaliate this way.
The reason is because, I had the right to spend 3000. when i spent 1100 they penalized me for using the card in a manner which was permitted.
