I sold a boat back in april 2000 through my local paper. The boat was sold AS IS as staed on the receipt. In July 2000 the buyer came back to me and said the boat worked fine a few times then it wouldnt run right anymore and needed to be rebuil. He said he knew as is meant as is but wanted me to pay for repairs. I told him I couldnt. Now I was served with papers on 8/15/200 to appear in small claims court. The boat ran fine when it left my possession. Am i missing something here? Does he have a case?

Based on what you've told me, no. Consult with an attorney to help you prepare for the trial & to decide whether you should remove the case to district court where you can have a lawyer.
