I have 2 tenants that moved out one still owes about 4 hundred I can take 2 hundred from his security deposit ( that's all he gave his roomate) so he still owes 2 hundred. His roomate gave me 550.00 security I don't want to take out that extra 200 from her security but might have to. here is myquestion
can i sue only one tenant if both are on lease?

You can sue only one of the two if you want.

Have the second on hand if there is anything she can add to your case.

That's what i thought thanks now the only problem is finding where he lives obviously i have to know his address to serve papers and he is not talking. I can't sue him without knowing his address right? I know that sounds silly but not sure

Was there a written lease agreement which they were both listed on? If so, they were joint tenants. Why bother suing either of them? You may win the suit but never collect the money.

Any rent owed can be deducted from the security deposit.

The female tenant can then go after her roommate for the $$$.
