How would I go about suing America Online in small claims court?

I live in Broward county, Florida. I won't waste your time with the history of my complaint unless you request it. Suffice it to say that I feel justified in filing a small claims lawsuit.

I have checked with the Florida Department of State/Division of Corporations and I cannot find a corporate registered agent for AOL. Can anyone suggest how I might proceed with this?

Thanks.

Wow, I wish you the best of luck on this. You may well prevail or at a minimum cause a lot of grief which can cause them to settle.

2 issues. One is whether AOL does enough business in Florida to have jurisdiction over them. No doubt, they do.

Second, does Florida allow you to sue someone out of the state or serve out of state for small claims court. If they do, you could serve them at their offices in Virginia.

I took a quick look at some resources on line for Florida Small Claims court. Did not see anything preventing it. Go for it by getting a copy of the complaint after filing, and getting a date for the court date well in advance, and mail it with the appropriate fee for the sheriff for the county in VA where AOL is. Ask that they serve the president, in which case they will deliver it the office of the president which is likely sufficient. That sheriff will send you an affidavit of service which you file with your small claims court. Call the VA county sheriff in advance so you find out where to mail to and the right fee.

Best of luck.
