I am looking for some suggestions from anyone with experience in suing a moving company for damages to their property.

I paid Bekins for an interstate move of my household goods to the state of Illinois. I also purchased their "full value protection" for my shipment. I ended up with about $1300 worth of damage to property.

Bekins has refused to pay most of the claim because the damage was not documented at delivery. Some of the damage to my furniture was not visible during delivery. This was due to a variety of reasons. The position of the furniture or simply having stacks of boxes makes it difficult to detect all damage. Somehow I was supposed to "see" those loose table legs.

I guess I'll have no option but to file lawsuit in small claims court. If anyone can offer some tips on this I would be grateful.
