What is the name of your state? Florida

I have been served with a "Summons/Notice to appear for Pretrail Conference", and due to appear next week...
I am presently unempolyed, SocSec income of $1300. per month and the only possible non-exempt assset would be my 1996 car with a Trade in Value (KBB) of $4000. less repair cost of $700.00 to the car...
Questions:
1) When I appear, is this as stated, "PreTrial" and that no Judgement will be handed down at this time... but only a date for trial will be set?

2) If I at that time I request a "Debt Validation" from the Collection Agent, will this hold off the preceedings until the Collection Agent presents the Validation? About 15-30 days and possibly moved the trial day out further?

My reason to hold off the judgement is that I am in the process of preparing to file for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy and I need some time to hold off the possiblility of my car being taken for debt...Need my car for possible employment as hard as it may be to find.

Thanks to anyone who is willing to help :)

Think of a "Pre-trial" as an opportunity to present evidence without a final verdict being handed down. Its more of a summation of "is this worth taking to court or is the debtor willing to negotiate on the said debt". You're on the right track on getting the debt validated. Definitely seek legal advise on this matter. Definitely show up at the Pre-trail, its your chance to represent your side .Do you acknowledge that you owe the debt in question? Has it exhausted the SOL on collections?
You raise an interesting question on the Bankruptcy filing whilst in the mist of a possible judgement case.
Let us know how the pre trial goes. :) Your experience may just well help others.
