If someone is trying to take me to small claims court and I am to recieve a "summons" to appear in court for this issue; How must the summons be delivered to me?

This all pertains to the "sold a used car" and "sold a used car...update". Any and all advise is appriciated with all posts.

A sheriff, constable or any other person authorized by the court may deliver the summons. It can also be done by registered or certified mail or by notice in a newspaper. There is more info here:

I got a letter in the mail from the sheriffs dept. It said something like 'to avoid a visit from us at work, please come see us'. The summons was handed to me when I went to their office.
