What is the name of your state?OH

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a typical supervised visitation schedule would be if the parents lived in different states? I know it can vary but if anyone knows or has been in the situation, I'd appreciate any insight.

If any of this helps...The father has never met the child, and was court ordered to therapy for 6 months before he can even meet the child, then supervised was to start slowly with the therapist. The mother has gotten the permission to move to California, and knows that she will have to pay all travel expenses, but is just trying to see how often she will have to come back to Ohio during the visits before the regular visitation starts. Thanks

OK supervised visitation schedules should be outlined in the court order. How often does it say- is there a schedule set up?

Out of state visitation (once the supervised visits are completed) will typically include rotating holidays, extended summer visit, some time at Easter/Christmas break from school.

There is no court order yet. That's the last thing that the judge needs to do. At the last trial the judge only signed off on the 6 months of therapy and mental health and drug testing for the father. She was given the permission to move because the father is not seeking any kind of custody, just visitation, so the judge said that she didn't even need to come to court for that as long as she filed her new address. She's just at a loss to try to estimate how many times she will need to come back to Ohio during the introduction and the supervised visitation. Thanks for the help.

No, the psychologist that the child is seeing in Ohio will do the supervision. (The child will also be seeing a therapist in CA.)

I would think that after the dad has completed his requirements, he would then notify the court and the court would outline the schedule. Has he completed the courts order?

No, it won't be completed until the middle of Feb. if he takes it that far, the psychologist has already notified the court of a "red flag" that came up in the first part of his mental health testing. She doesn't know what it is yet though, because its confident right now.

I guess what she wants to know is if it would be as much as every 4-6 weeks? Every 3 months? Is there usually a "standard" for out of state supervised? Thanks

I don't think that there is necessarily any "standard" for something like this. Its even possible that the judge might order dad to attend counseling with the CA in CA, rather than the child having to come to him.

However, since a "red flag" has already arisen....mom should probably just wait to see what happens.

Thanks.

Could a judge really order the dad to go to CA for therapy with the child?
Yes, its possible. It may not happen, and its certainly not guaranteed by any means, but its possible. Particularly if the child is in therapy there and is comfortable with the therapist.

that would be the least disruptive situation for the child, and probably end up costing mom less in transpo

Wow...thanks, I will pass it on to her.

Has anyone ever heard of that actually happening? How could she go about finding a similar case in Ohio if there is one to pass on to her attorney?
