First let me say I have NO DWI or DUI's. Sorry that this is long, but needed to have details since I have tried so many ways to resolve.
My NY State license was suspended by CT. It was suspended with a HIGH Risk Suspension (SR-22). This all dates back to 1992 (When I was younger and very ignorant about the importance of maintaining a clean license!!)
The problem is in order to remove the suspension I need to obtain SR-22 Drivers Insurance. CT offers this. NY DOES NOT!! CT Insurance Brokers will not or can not issue SR-22 Insurance to a NY State License. NY State does not offer SR-22. I have called over 40 different NY & CT brokers, none have helped. I have even spoken to the Commishioner of Insurance and Commishioner of Motor Vechicles from BOTH states. All four of them told me nothing they can do about it.
Sure, simple just change my address from NY to CT so I can obtain this insurance. NOPE, tried. CT will not issue me a CT Drivers license since NY has mine suspended. I can not transfer it. It has also since expired.
I have been told if you wait 10 years from the date of your last infraction it will be removed from the computer system. Since I need to make a living and sometimes I can not get to where I am going by Mass Transit (which I use heavily) I will sometimes take the risk of driving. I have been caught once, back in 1998. So I would have to wait until 2008, as long as I do not get caught again.
How do I get it back?
