What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? colorado

has anyone ever heard of protocol recovery service out of panama city. i stopped paying on a direct merchants bank credit card 2 years ago and haven't recieved any mail from them in over 1.5 years and all the sudden a mrs pinkston tracks me down at work and says she will file a judgment against me and garnish my wages. i freak out so i agree to make payments of 100 month. so far i have paid 1400 and i asked her to send me a letter of where my money is going-which i haven't received so how do i know she is not just some scam artist because i have recieved no letter from direct merchants bank or from this protocol recovery place ever. i don't want to continue sending my money to some place but i don't want to stop paying because mrs pinkston said i would be in breach of our agreement and go ahead with her original judgment against me- which i can't afford for my wages to be garnished. any help/advice would be appreciated

I hope someone else jumps in here and gives you more advice, but it sounds to me like you've been taken. If you've never received a letter from anyone and this "Mrs. Pinkston" won't cooperate, I'd quit paying right now! As for this judgement she claims to have, if you have never been served court papers or had any communication by mail with these people, there is no judgement. The only way they can garnish your wages is by suing you and getting a court ordered judgement. They can't just make one up to scare you into paying them.

Sadly, Crystallite, I too think you've been scammed. A message to everyone--DO NOT PAY ANYTHING TO A SCAM COLLECTOR UNTIL YOU GET A LETTER DETAILING THE NATURE OF THE DEBT!

Also, you made a big mistake by negotiating on the phone. Only negotiate with CAs by snail mail. You might also want to get more information about this so-called bill collector. If in fact it is a scam, you might want to contact your state attorney general and sue Protocol Recovery Services.
