What is the name of your state? Texas

First I must tell that I'm not a US citizen but I was told by a Dutch attorney this falls under US law;

I had to rebuild the performance engine of my car and needed lots of parts, from a couple of US suppliers. To cut on shipping costs, and since I did not have a credit card I asked if someone on a forum where I am very active could arrange the purchase of these parts all together and send them to me as 1 parcel. One of the most active members on the forum (whom from Texas) offered help and I payed him for all the parts, shipping a small charge for his help.

We had lot's of contact and he appeared to be well trusted. As all parts were bought he said he'd ship them, but I never received anything. I called/mailed him and he had lame excuses. Later on, he did not answer his phone or email at all.

From one of the suppliers I received an invoice which clearly stated he bought the parts. I'm quite confident he bought the parts from the other suppliers as well, thought they did not responded.

I filed a complaint via the FBI's IC3 against him on the 17th of april this year, but they never got back to me.

I have lot's of personal info on this person so his identity is clear.

Can anyone give me advice on what to do? Is this a civil case and could that be the reason the IC3 does not get back to me? The sum of everything I payed him is almost 1650usd.

I really apreciate any help.

RutgerS,

Everytime I pass over your post I feel I want to apologize to you for someone from my country ripping you off in that manner. I don't know how people can do that and walk around as if they have a clear conscience. I know I couldn't! Maybe it's my religious beliefs, or parental teachings, but I've always looked at stealing as if it's making a scar on your soul, that if you continue it enough eventually people won't be able to see you anymore for the scars, that even God won't be able to recognize you anymore.

Good luck with your quest to get your money back, again I'm sorry to see this happen to you. Unfortunately it's become way too commonplace anymore. Don't let it ruin your feelings towards all over us over here, we're not all that way.

Regards,
SnowCajun

Thanks for sharing your feelings Snowcajun. I have only good experiences with people from the states, unfortunately, *******s are everywhere.

Is there anyone who can give some extra insight into this situation? What steps should I take? Should I also contact the local police office near the suspect?

The situation eventually got solved. Someone from the forum I knew him from called his number and somehow he did respond this time. As he was told I contacted the feds he got a little scared and explained his ex had taken possesion of the parts and alot of his stuff. He said he'd recently obtained them but didn't have time to contact me:rolleyes:

He immidiately contacted me (with pics of the parts) and arranged shipping. He showed up on the forum and took the blame 100% and apoligized. I got the parts about a month later, all in excellent condition.

Basicly, that one phone call solved everything.
