What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? ok
i had a 5k loan from pacific marine credit union back in 1994 made some payments went through a divorce and ex-wife was given the debt. she has not paid and unable to find her at this time. i been reciveing letters for awhile over this debt and at the moment i am lucky to have a roof over me head. my credit report states that marine credit wrote the debt off and since and turned it over to systematic for collection. systematic state's that i owe over 10k. i called them years back and told them my ex's last known address. i am at a lost. can they garnish what wages i have and what is the statue of limitation on collecting a debt? thank you

They can't garnish anything w/o suing you and winning a judgment FIRST.

The SOL on written contracts in OK is 5 years, so if it hasn't been paid in 5 years or more, then they're outta luck. You can write them a cease and desist letter telling them never to contact you about the debt again as it is time-barred per OK statutes.

Whatever was in your divorce decree means nothing, BTW, if you're name was on the debt, they can come after you too.
