What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?GA. 2 children 1 was adopted buy my son other is blood .can you take away the parental rights on the blood grandchild without the other child,we have full physical and legalcustody.wanted to make story short ,adopted girl will be 14 and she may have the right to choose who she wants to live with we have known her 7 years ,the mother is not allowed to see children its been 3years father [our son]has unlimited visatation we are afraid if grandaughter goes back to bio mother at 14 mother may have right to go after our other grandson who is 7 ,thats why we wanted to take her parental rights away from grandson to protect him from her.we doubt the court would give the daughter back but our justice system sometimes does strange things

The grandparents are wanting to take custody of the bio grandchild from the dad<-(grandparent's bio son), but don't want custody of the dad's adopted child...correct?

Rights and custody are different matters. Are they trying to obtain custody or sever the father's parental rights?

What the? The Grandparents want custody, why? Because they allege dad is unfit? If he is unfit, then why would they leave one of their grandchildren behind? An adopted child is NO less a member of the family than a so-called "blood" grandchild. Our bio-kids are NOT superior or more worthy of our love and care than are our adopted ones!

KEN1001- two words, punctuation and paragraphs, don't worry about making it short, you are not going to get good advice if you leave out pertanent facts

Technically, three. :p

But yes, it would help to have additional details. Why does Dad not have custody? While, at 14, the child may have a right to choose - it requires that both parents be found fit by the court. If a parent is unfit, the court will not allow the child to go there, regardless of her wishes.

Frankly, it speaks volumes that you would be willing to sacrifice the adopted child for your own flesh & blood.

If you already have full physical and legal custody, it would be unlikely that the judge would just turn that over, especially since the mom has had such little contact, is there a reason you are suddenly trying to terminate rights now?

and the grandaughter may not have the right to choose, what are the stipulation regarding mom having no contact with children? why is that?

granddaughter can not just "go back" mom will have to fight for her, which takes money and time, and she has already lost custody once.
