What is the name of your state? BC
I am just after general opinions and ideas, and not interested in the law of any specific state. This is in Canada but could be in the US. In fact many Canadian retail chains are American owned and also use questionable marketing methods.
In particular this retailer's parent company was once fined over $1 Million for misleading consumers. I have personally seen one of their displays that indicated a good discount but was hard to find as almost all items in the display were regular priced. Last weekend they had a big discount sale on an item. A whole wall was covered with the items and numerous large signs broadcasting the sale. But there were only a few that were ticketed with a small 'reduced' sign.
I had my camera with me and would have liked to take a picture and post it on my website, and possibly to send to a consumer advocacy group or a government agency.
I wonder what the implications are. Could security be called? Could I keep my digital photos? Should I publish names and details? I'm sick of this kind of marketing, it's way too commonplace and I would like to do something about it. Any suggestions?
