What is the name of your state? Iowa
After my dad died 10 years ago, my mother decided to put my brother on the deed to her house and took my dad's name off. Now, she has decided that she doesn't want his name on her house as he lives out of town and will be unable to take care of the house. She is concerned that he will be very angry. Is there any way to take his name off the house? Or would he have to sign something?

She has to understand that a deed isn't some sort of club or indication of intent. Every deed conveys some interest from the grantor to the grantee. You can't "take someone off the deed" or "put them on the deed." The title (ownership of the house) is the collection of all the deeds giving the history of property transfers.

When dad died, she did what was necessary to have the house granted solely to her (either she had some survivorship rights, or it came to her in probate). When she "put brother on the deed" what she did was IRREVOCABLY GIVE HIM HALF THE HOUSE at the time of the deed. He was free do whatever he wants with that share from then on. There's nothing she can do about it now unilaterally.

As ShyCat points out, the only thing she can do is convince him to deed back his share to her. As she is now realizing, deeding property you own should not be done casually.
