What is the name of your state? CA

I am 21 female in San Diego CA and I am currently in a long distance relationship with a 17 female in Hurt, VA. We have never met, I have sent her letters but in the letters the most sexual things it said was I want to kiss you, touch your face, etc. or I love you or I want to be with you. That is all. Her aunt and uncle are her legal guardians and they recently called me and told me to leave her alone, no talking to her on the phone, inter-net, or sending her mail. I said ok so they would leave me alone. One the inter-net all we do is chat and on the phone that's all we do, some sexual talk but not much. He told me if I did he had enough friends in the law he could do something to me. I have pictures of her on my computer, all with clothes on. She will be turning 18 June 1st. But I would like to know my rights. Can he do anything to me? It is just over the inter-net nothing more. Although, when she turns 18 she planned on coming here to visit. I want to know all of my rights. Can she call me? If he put a restraining order on me and she kept making contact with me would that cancel it out? Also, I heard from a friend that CA does not recognize legal documents from other states and that if he wants to do something to me he has to come here and press charges.

You do not have much respect for her guardians, apparently. And by allowing her to disobey her guardians, you may also be breaking the law in VA. Maybe.

Yes. How's a restraining order sound? Maybe even criminal charges depending on what's on her computer.

Why not wait til she's 18? That way she doesn't have to disrespect her guardians, you will avoid any potential legal problems, she can come out here to live with you, and you can support her.

No. If you have a restraining order, you had best hang up if she calls or contacts you.

Your friend's law degree came from a Cracker Jack box. The crime occurred in VA and that will be where the case would be heard. And CA DOES recognize most types of restraining orders out here.

And while I doubt that VA would extradite you for this offense, having a restraining order can put a real crimp into your life. And, you never know ... they just might find some of your communication with a minor to be unlawful and inappropriate.

Your call.

Some places have local Cyber Crime units in there police departments, and there are many sites on the internet that gives information on who to contact in these cituations. I would suggest you wait until she is 18. As long as she is a minor she is in there care. With everything that is going on the world today you must realize their concern.
