My case is the following. I was referred by a friend to a tattoo parlor where she had previously gotten a tatto done. Thing is her tattoo cost her $40 while mine, being same size cost me $150. The issue here is not entirely the money, since we're dealing with a relatively small amount, but the way things were handled at the place. I walked in the shop with an idea of what I wanted done. The tattoo artist convinced me to do it his way, being that he had experience and he knew more about the issue. He promised to give it depth and movement. He garanteed I would walk out happy. It was my first and will be my last tattoo therefore I have no experience in the issue. First they tell me it was costum work and also my tattoo was gonna have many different colors and that's the reason why the charges were so high. Now if you see my tattoo you will see that it is not worth $150. It is badly done and it is not bigger than a bussiness card. I was asked to pay before-hand. Once they were done I stormed out of the place crying because I absolutely hated the tattoo, but later on that day called and demanded at least half of money back, they simply said they would call me back and to this day I haven't gotten and answer. I keep calling and they refuse to answer my phone calls. I dont want to walk into this place not knowing what procedure or attitude to take. Please help. Now this is what went wrong: I intended to pay with a credit card but they refused to take it, they demanded cash, I paid cash. No receipt was issued and no kind of papers were signed so I can't be held to anything... Right?

i never gotten a tattoo before! but,i'm sure there is other places
that dont ask for the money up front before, they start.
an i would really try to go to a place.that has paper work for you
to sign.saying if you arent happy with the work.money back
guarntee or they would try to fixed it ! if they dont have anything like this.
another suggestion, before you go to a business of any kind,
to purchase car, furniture, tattoo's etc..... call the better
business bureau to see if there is any complaints on the place.
where you are looking to purchase.

"Please help."
*** Help with what??? You haven't described anything that has to do with a legal matter. Simply, you agreed to let them do what they did, for the price you agreed to.

"Now this is what went wrong: I intended to pay with a credit card but they refused to take it, they demanded cash, I paid cash."
*** Your post says you paid IN ADVANCE!! So, when they refused to accept your credit card, you AGREED to pay in cash. You could have just walked out. Right??

"No receipt was issued and no kind of papers were signed so I can't be held to anything... Right?"
*** What are you being 'held' to???

Summary, other than a moderately interesting story about your getting a tattoo...... you asked for nothing from this forum. So, thanks for the story.

As far as 'AuntJacks' is concerned, the first statement in your post tells all. "i never gotten a tattoo before!"
So, then we should take it that you have NO idea what any legal issues are in this thread..... right??

AuntJacks: I tried to give you an easy out so that you wouldn't be shown to be a total fool..... so here goes....

You said:
"i never gotten a tattoo before!"
*** Then why did you feel compelled to post??

"but,i'm sure there is other places
that dont ask for the money up front before, they start."
*** Wrong. The majority (can't say all) of these tattoo shops get their money up front. They are usually dealing with low-life, uneducated folks who are known to fight or flight to avoid paying after the fact. Or to prevent being on the wrong side (unpaid) of a disagreement exactly like this.

"an i would really try to go to a place.that has paper work for you
to sign."
*** Most of them have disclaimers saying simply, "You are here voluntarily and asking me to scar your skin. You agree to release me from ANY liability".
So, any 'paperwork' you are referring to is useless.

"saying if you arent happy with the work.money back guarntee or they would try to fixed it !"
*** Further proof of your opening statement. These tattoo parlors are not run by BBB members, or members of your local Rotary or Chamber of Commerce. The majority of them are run by low-lifes who have learned an 'art' in prison and have found a legal way to convert your money into their money.

"if they dont have anything like this.
another suggestion, before you go to a business of any kind,
to purchase car, furniture, tattoo's etc..... call the better
business bureau to see if there is any complaints on the place."
*** You must think you are shopping at Macy's!!! The clientele of these tattoo establishments are not the type to call the BBB and complain about the 'art'.

"where you are looking to purchase."
*** Kind of left this sentence hanging out there, didn't you??

Don't misunderstand, there are some 'legitimate' upper-class tattoo (skin art) businesses out there. But they are few and far between..... and obviously NOT a place where this writer went to.

In summary, you have NO idea what you are talking about.

And what the hell is wrong with your typing??? You use short lines, no capitalizing, poor grammar and little or no correct punctuation.

This is a case for the SPELLING POLICE!!!

I'd love for this poster to try to tell some 400lb gonzo with three-day old stubble and a stogie haning from his mouth "I want my money back".

Gawd, I'd pay to watch that one.:D
