How would someone go about researching a 30 year old tax foreclosure on land? The property is in North Carolina and everyone that has first hand knowledge of the circumstances are deceased. The reason for the question is that as heir to a portion of the property, I have documents that indicate the arrears taxes were paid and the land should have been redeemed. What are my options, if any?

You need to consult a real estate attorney in your city. By waiting 30 years to challenge the tax foreclosure, you have probably waited too long to be able to sue to set it aside. The time the original owners waited gets added to the time you have waited.

This is not legal advice and you are not my client. Double check everything with your own attorney and your state's laws.
