My fiancee and his ex wife have verbally agreed to alternate the next 6 years so that each party can claim their daughter as a dependant on their taxes. She has said that she is willing to "sign something" stating so. Since she is the custodial parent, she can change her mind at any time, letting her have the upper hand over us for 6 years (she has already said that we ought to kiss her ass from now on now that she agreed to this...we don't want to have to live like that, so we prefer this agreement in writing). I know about the IRS Publication 504, but that means we would have to go to her every year when it is our turn, another reason we would like this in writing. My questions are: what do you call this? and where and how would you write this up? We need the cheapest legal way possible. Thank you! and good luck to you all with your situations :)
