What is the name of your state? ca My brother just handed over a copy of his living trust to me. I am to be given the house. his taxes are very low. Is there any way to keep the taxes the same if he dies?

Check with your county. Usually only parent-child transfers avoid reassessment in California under Prop. 13, but some counties have modified the reassessment guidelines. Your county assessor's office will have the right information.
