I am a teacher in a small private school who is being treated unfairly by both students and adminstrators. I was the sixth grade teacher who was having a difficult time with her class. I went through all the school procedures of dealing with a difficult child. I wrote up behavior slip after behavior slip and discussed the problem with the principal. His response was to move me to another class. I now teacher 2nd and 3rd grade. My problem is that this student that I complained about since the beginning of the year is now either making up things about me to his parents or spreading rumor around the school about me. He has affected my authority not only with himself but with other students in the school. The principal has not followed through with the discipline procedures in effect at the school. All he does is call the student into his office and tells him to stop. I have no support from other staff members and do not know what to do. Is there anything that I can do legally against the school or this student and his parents?

There are a number of legal things you can do, but none will help your situation much, except perhaps some psychological counseling. You are an adult, right?
