What is the name of your state? ILLINOIS

I TRUST THAT THIS QUESTION IS BEING DIRECTED TO THE CORRECT PARTY.
IS IT TRUE THAT THERE IS SOME LEGAL RECOURSE AVAILABLE TO ANYONE WHO ASK A TELEMARKETING FIRM TO REMOVE HIS/HER NAME FROM THEIR CALLING LIST?
IN SHORT, WHAT I WANT TO KNOW IS, WHAT IS THE EXACT PROCEDURE TO EITHER GET THEM TO STOP CALLING OR HIT THEM IN THEIR POCKETBOOK?
IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THE ONLY WAY TO DO, THIS IS BY RECORDING ANY CALLS PLACED AFTER [MAYBE INCLUDING] THE CALL ASKING TO NOT CALL ANY MORE. HOWEVER, ISN'T RECORDING A CALL UNLAWFUL IN ITSELF?

I appreciate any help you can offer.
