my landlord called my supervisor avout some utility bills that i haven't paid.they are in the landlords name and i requested that she show me proof of the amount she is requesting to be reimbursed by me.there has not been any type of mail correspondence from her. i have put the utilities into my name.i paid these utilities to her since i moved in in april 2000.and have requested to see a bill for the last three months, due to the extrodinary increases in both the gas and electric.gas has went from 60 dollars a month to 347 dollars a month and electric has gone from 55 dollars to 201 dollars a month.i thought i had a right to see the bills to make sure they were not doubling over from a previous month my main concern is her attitude that if i don't pay then i will call your supervisor at work with the implication she will use this as ways to get what she wants. does she have the right to do interfere with my job like this especially since i work for an agency not a company or corporation? this is the second call she has made to my supervisor since 2/14/2001.can i sue her for her harrassament at work and at home? i thought that the mail was to be utilized with maybe a registered letter or something other than calling my supervisor. the utilities are in her name and i don't have a lease with her that says anything about me having to pay her for the utilities. matter of facts i don't have any type of a lease.i live in the state of virginia. i'm really sorry about the capital letters any help will be greatly appreciated.

My response:

Please help us to help you. To help us, please take your Cap Lock off and re-type your post. On the Internet, writing in all capital letters equates to yelling or screaming at the reader. By rewriting your post, this will help to increase your chances for a response.

Also, if you haven't already done so, please tell us your State name or the name of the State where your problem occurred.

We thank you for your kind cooperation.

1) Like a lot of others, you have been mislead by the popular use of the catch-phrase of 'harassment'. The only harassment that is barred is for the accepted forms; sexual, religious, race, etc. Your is NOT harassment and can't be litigated. Besides, what 'damages' have you incurred???

2) Contact the utility companies and ask them to send you the prior months bills. Should be pretty simple.

3) Then, either now or when you move out, be sure to litigate for recovery of the landlords bills that you paid for her.

Oh, and get your 'caps-lock' key fixed!
