I was wondering if you could help with this. My mother accidently bumped into another car in the parking lot of our apartment complex, and she left a note on the car to notify the owner where we could be contacted. Apparently, someone else in the complex saw what happened, reported it to the owner of the other car who then went to the leasing office of the complex and got information from them about us. I feel like this was an invasion of our privacy since the apartment personnel would have no idea of the real motive of this person in getting this information. Only one person was involved so they could very well have given out my work phone number since they have it. Do I have any recourse in this?

Depends on state law, but probably not. You can't sue menagement for invading your right to privacy because they aren't the government. You can't sue management in civil court because you have no damages. You can't sue the nosy neighbor because s/he hasn't been harrassing you by calling your unlisted number at 3 a.m. and calling you a bad driver and a filthy k'nigget.

However, you can let management know you are unhappy with their choice to publish YOUR info when you were not involved in an accident. You can also point out that if they do this again and someone starts harrassing you, you will sue management.
